The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is an annual series of races organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the international governing body for cycling sports. This prestigious competition brings together the world’s top mountain bikers across various disciplines. The World Cup attracts large audiences and showcases the sport’s elite talent, from young up-and-coming riders to experienced veterans.
The broadcast design combines the organic textures of nature with the grit of technical materials to create a rugged, action-packed broadcast design that captures the essence of cross-country mountain biking. This design concept brings together the unpredictability of nature with high-energy sports footage, forming an immersive visual experience that conveys the dynamic and challenging spirit of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.
MAKING OF
Organic vines symbolizing nature’s raw power grow across the screen in intricate, interwoven paths, embodying the complex, interconnected trails and unpredictable routes of cross-country biking. These vines pulse with energy as they extend and intersect, mimicking the twists, turns, and challenges riders face on the trail.
Carbon fiber, brushed metal, and bike chain links are woven in with the organic elements. Footage of riders navigating difficult terrain is seamlessly woven into the design. For example, as vines intersect and grow across the screen, they “open up” into high-action race shots, making each transition feel like a natural part of the organic structure.
INFO GRAPHICS
The broadcast design for the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is built around a flexible, customizable template that allows easy updating of footage, text, and key elements. This modular setup ensures that the opener and infographics can be quickly adapted to feature specific race locations, athlete information, or other live event details while retaining a cohesive style across all assets.
Each infographic panel / break is constructed using predefined templates with animated placeholders for footage and text. These placeholders allow editors to drag-and-drop new images or video clips, and simply type in updated details, which are then automatically formatted to fit the style.
